The Innisfree Wheelers from Sligo in the Northwest of Ireland booked a cycling holiday on the Costa Blanca for the first time. To do so, they called upon the cycling holiday services of Ropa Cycling , through the mediation of board member John Greene, who has long known the charms of the region. The stay at Hotel La Zenia in Orihuela Costa, right by the sea, was the ideal base for the collaboration with Ropa Cycling Bike Rental and the guided Ropa Bike Tours. More than 20 sporty Irish men and women were pampered for a whole week in three cycling groups, based on their target riding speed.
Group 2 of the Innisfree Wheelers made a 60 km excursion along the beautiful reservoir ' Embalse de la Pedrara '. This lake supplies a large part of the Costa Brava region between Murcia and Cartagena with water for the many vegetable and fruit plantations via an impressive canal system. At one of the viewpoints, the group, led by Gino De Weirdt, took the time for a photo capturing the atmosphere.
Group 1 cycled a tour to Succina . The origins of Succina date back to prehistory. There are many remains of Iberian and Roman settlements, but the foundations of the current village date from 1744. It was therefore a nice opportunity to take a photo with the Innesfree Wheelers at the local church on the square.
Visiting Spain on the Costa Blanca also means planning a trip to one of the seaside resorts. From Orihuela Costa, we toured to Pilar de la Horadada with the Innesfree Wheelers . This beautiful coastal town has many attractions; besides the many terraces along the waterfront, there is the Escultura Del Toro statue that welcomes you at the entrance to the town.
